Greetings, Heroes of Holdfast!

Here is a detailed overview of the changes in our latest update-


The Primal Heart’s Call Event

  • During the event you’ll delve into the Holdfast’s Dungeons and gather Primal Hearts to unlock rewards whispered about only in its darkest depths.
  • It is a great opportunity to acquire the featured event hero, the Surgeon, and try out the changes that enhance this hero’s utility in battle.
  • Trade your Primal Hearts now and claim valuable rewards from the Primal Heart Event Shop before tie runs out.
  • The Primal Heart’s Call event runs until the 23rd of March 2026, 00:00 UTC.


The Star Oracle Caravan

  • The Star Oracle Caravan returns for a limited time, veiled in cosmic omens, and brings with it the elusive faction known as the Starweaved.
  • Available until the 23rd of March 2026, 00:00 UTC.


Double Ruby Sale

  • The stars align and fortunes surge as selected ruby packs are full of double rewards for a limited time.
  • Doubled Ruby Packs include Handful of Rubies, Chalice of Rubies, Barrel of Rubies, Chest of Rubies and Cart of Rubies.
  • This offer is available until the 23rd of March 2026, 00:00 UTC.


Dungeon Balance Changes

  • Reduced difficulty in higher tiers.
  • Reduced chances of encountering veteran and elite enemies.
  • Essence has been redistributed in the dungeons, now found in the Forlorn Hollow and Elder Abyss chambers.

Dev note: Essence should now be easier to obtain early game, while offering increased amounts in the late game.

  • Camping items have been redistributed between the different dungeon chambers based on rarity.

These changes to item distribution should help reduce the number of different possible rewards in each chamber, making it easier to target more specific rewards.


Campaign Balance Changes

  • Early campaign rating requirements have been slightly reduced to support a smoother early game difficulty curve.
  • Increased team size in Act 1 for higher difficulty campaigns (Nightmare, Hell, Purgatory) to 5 Heroes.
  • Purgatory now starts at a lower difficulty rating, and scales more gradually.


Act Boss Balance Changes

With our last update several Act Bosses throughout the campaign ended up harder to defeat than intended. These changes should help make defeating them more achievable by reducing their overall health and damage output.  

Witch of the Deep

  • Base Intelligence reduced from 15 to 8
  • Health per level reduced from 1600 to 800

Wealdlord

  • Base Strength increased from 5 to 10
  • Health per level reduced from 1600 to 500
  • Ability usage has been improved, so he no longer overuses his poison attack.

Bandit Queens


Chaos

  • Base Intelligence reduced from 12 to 7
  • Health per level reduced from 400 to 200

Might

  • Base Intelligence reduced from 12 to 7
  • Health per level reduced from 600 to 300

Order

  • Base Intelligence reduced from 20 to 9
  • Health per level reduced from 200 to 100


General Combat Revisions

  • Rating calculations have been adjusted across several stats to create more consistent hero ratings when power levels are similar.

These include changes to Guard, Guard Penetration, Ability Power, Ability Power Penetration, Parry Chance, Parry Damage, and Critical Damage.

  • Backstab: The rear of a character is now clearly indicated, and now only melee heroes can perform Backstabs, unless the non-melee hero has been boosted by trinkets or paragon points.  
  • Retaliate: Retaliate now displays properly when triggered.
  • Parry: Magic attacks can no longer be parried.
  • Healing abilities should provide a healing preview on allies’ HP bar now.
  • Added an additional room to Assassinate target missions, reducing the first turn advantage given to players, providing the need for more tactical decisions in these fights.
  • The Shieldmaiden's base Strength stat has been increased to help her better fulfil her role as a tank.


The Surgeon Rework

The Surgeon’s abilities, perks, talents, effects and stat nodes in all subclass trees have been reworked and additional stat nodes have been added to all subclasses.


FIELD MEDIC
(Subclass A)


Ability: First Aid

  • First Aid: Apply a Mending status effect to a target that will continue healing them over a set amount of turns.


Perk: Surgical Momentum

  • Removed Perk: Trauma Catalyst.
  • New Perk: Increase Surgeon’s ability power and guard on turn start until Room End.


Talent: Sterile Treatment

  • Removed Talent: Hasten.
  • New Talent: Cleanse affliction damage effects from the nearest 2 allies and increase their ability guard.



Effect: Critical Dash (Mastery level 2)

  • New Effect: When ally becomes Dying, apply haste to Surgeon for 2 turns.


Effect: Accelerated Cycle (Mastery level 4)

  • Removed Effect: Vital Resonance.
  • New Effect: On Haste, reduces ability cooldown by 1.


Effect: Regenerative Resistance (Mastery level 7)

  • Removed Effect: Anger Induction on Mastery Level 6.
  • Removed Effect: Wrath Transfusion on Mastery Level 6.
  • New Effect: Mending from First Aid has a 33% chance to apply Hardened and Cooled to the target for 1 turn.  


Effect: Recovery Fortification (Mastery level 11)

  • Removed Effect: Hibernation Cycle.
  • New Effect: Mending from First Aid has a 50% chance to apply Fortified to the target for 1 turn.


Second Procedure (Mastery level 14)

  • Removed Effect: Triage.
  • New Effect: Surgeon’s ability refreshes target’s turn if they have acted.



ANATOMIST
(Subclass B)


Ability: Emergency Analgesia

  • Removed Ability: Resuscitate.
  • New Ability: Allows an ally to endure fatal damage for 1 time and survive at 1HP. Increase their attack based on Surgeon’s ability power.
  • Cooldown has increased from 5 to 6.


Perk: Clinical Exploitation

  • Removed Perk: Adrenaline Rush.
  • New Perk: Increase Surgeon’s ability power when an ally is dying(<30%HP).


Talent: Protective Infusion

  • Removed Talent: Hasten.
  • New Talent: Increase the attack of the ally with the lowest HP based on their missing HP percentage.  



Effect: Blue Momentum (Mastery level 2)

  • Removed Effect: Neurochemical.
  • New Effect: When an ally resists fatal damage, they gain haste for 1 turn.


Effect: Vital Feedback (Mastery level 4)

  • Removed Effect: Cortical Reflex.
  • New Effect: When ally resists fatal damage, on next kill they will receive 10% of max HP.


Effect: Neural Shock (Mastery level 7)

  • Removed Effect: Dissection’s Curse.
  • New Effect: When ally resists fatal damage, their ability will be reset. This effect can only be activated once per encounter.


Effect: Critical Response (Mastery level 11)

  • Removed Effect: Thanatology on Mastery Level 9.
  • Removed original Effect: Hibernation Cycle on Mastery Level 10.
  • New Effect: When ally resists fatal damage, their critical chance will be increased by 100% for 1 turn.


Effect: Neural Override (Mastery level 14)

  • Removed Effect: Medication.
  • New Effect: When ally resists fatal damage, they gain Cleanse and become immune to Horrified, Slow and Pin for 1 turn.



APOTHECARY (Subclass C)


Ability: Battlefield Triage

  • Removed Ability: Rescue Surge.
  • New Ability: Heal allies in a 33 area based on Surgeon’s ability power. The healing amount is evenly split among all targets.
  • Cooldown has increased from 5 to 6.


Perk: Trauma Control Field

  • Removed Perk: Surgical Field
  • New Perk: Increase allies’ guard when they are near Surgeon.


Talent: Combat Stimulants

  • Removed Talent: Hasten and all related Talent nodes.
  • New Talent: Increase the ability power of nearest 2 allies based on Surgeon’s ability power for 2 turns.



Effect: Aseptic Control
(Mastery level 2)

  • Removed Effect: Surgical Vitality.
  • New Effect: Surgeon’s ability applies Encouraged for 2 turns.


Effect: Tissue Exposure (Mastery level 4)

  • Removed Effect: Anger Induction.
  • New Effect: Surgeon’s attack has a 50% chance to apply Sundered to the target.


Effect: Trauma Alert (Mastery level 7)

  • Removed Effect: Myofibril Tension.
  • New Effect:  When ally becomes Disabled, reduce Surgeon’s ability cooldown by 1.


Effect: Rapid Extraction (Mastery level 11)

  • Removed Effect: Platelet Infusion on Mastery Level 9.
  • Removed Effect: Hibernation Cycle on Mastery Level 10.
  • New Effect: Surgeon’s ability removes the Disabled status.


Effect: Overflow Protocol (Mastery level 14)

  • Removed Effect: Hemostatic Elixir.
  • New Effect: Surgeon’s ability grants a shield to the ally at full HP, equal to 15% of the Surgeon’s ability power for 2 turns.


Additional Changes

  • The Rate-up Recruitment Caravan will be updated to feature the Acolyte and Paladin.
  • Added Boosted Stat indicators to hero portraits.  
  • Fixed an issue where players were not receiving Rare Hero Shards as a reward from Expeditions.
  • The Season Pass will no longer be reoccurring.
  • Players with remaining Terenite will be able to purchase items using excess Terenite through the Exclusive Deals tab in the Shop.
  • General bug fixes & balance changes.
